Routine Dental at Chagford Dental Practice
Our team is committed to make your treatment an enjoyable and rewarding experience. We are friendly, caring and efficient in providing outstanding personal care on an individual basis, especially for our nervous patients.

Examination

Our oral health consultations will involve a thorough check of your teeth and soft tissues, this will allow us to evaluate the overall health of your mouth and discuss any concerns you may have. If any treatment is required, your options will be discussed with you to enable you to make an informed decision on which treatment is most suited to you.

It is important to attend regular dental examinations, as recommended by your dentist.

Soft Tissue Examination

Oral Cancer: Your dentist can detect signs of oral abnormalities but you should be aware of the early signs of oral cancer, if you display any of the following symptoms you should contact us or your doctor:
  • Swelling, lump or growth, unusual hardness in the mouth or neck, usually painless.
  • Red or white patches in the mouth persistent for more than 3 weeks.
  • Numbness, loss of feeling or pain in any area of the face, mouth or neck.

Anyone can be affected by oral cancer, but it is more common in those over 40, heavy smokers and those with a high alcohol intake. If oral cancer is detected early, the chances of complete cure are considerably increased.

Hygiene

Dental Hygiene is the key to a lifelong healthy mouth by ensuring your gum health is always kept under control by thoroughly cleaning above and below the gum margins to remove harmful bacteria. At your dental hygiene appointment, the Hygienists will take time to go through your daily oral hygiene routine, they will demonstrate, instruct and guide you in the correct and sometime difficult task of cleaning your mouth.

A healthy mouth will help to protect your body from conditions such as Type 2 Diabetes, Heart Disease, Stroke and Alzheimer’s – disease’s which are all linked to poor gum health.
